Rainwater Tank Rebates QLD
 
QLD Home WaterWise Rebate Scheme

The Queensland State Government has announced the Home WaterWise  Rebate Scheme that provides rebates South-East Queensland residents for the following products from 1 July 2006:

$1000 for rainwater tanks, pumps and diverters and installation - click here for details
• Up to $200 to install an above-ground greywater system, and $500 to purchase and install a below-ground greywater system
• $200 for a new 4 star (or better) water rated washing machine (one washing machine per household)
• $150 per suite for new dual-flush toilet suites, including installation, which will replace existing single flush toilets (for a maximum of 2 toilets suites)
• 50% of purchase price up to $30 per showerhead for new 3 star (or better) showerheads (for a maximum of 3 showerheads)
• $200 for pool covers, including rollers (minimum size is 25 square metres)

Installation requirements - to qualify for rebates

All installations must include the following to comply with various requirements of the QLD Development Code (Part 25), which requires suitable measures to:

1. Prevent contaminants entering the tank. eg. screened downpipe rainhead such as a Leaf Eater® on each downpipe.

2. Prevent mosquito breeding. eg. Mozzie Stoppa® insect proof screens or flap valves on every tank opening.

3. Provide reticulated water (wehere available) as a backup supply where tank connection to toilets or laundry. eg. Tank 'top-up' systems

Brisbane City Council

An additional rebate of up to $850 is available for the installation of rainwater tanks. For more info, search for "rainwater tanks" on the BCC website.

Gold Coast City Council

Rebates are available when you install a rainwater collection system to an existing home under the QLD State Government Program. Click here for more information.

Toowoomba City Council

Additional rebates of up to $500 are available for the installation of rainwater systems to existing homes. Click here for more information.
