Commercial water diverters

When is one appropriate?

Used where large volumes of water must be diverted due to extremely large roof areas or because of a high degree of contamination on the roof.

Generally divert between 500 and 1000L. Individually designed and manufactured to specific requirements. Can be ground mounted next to the holding tank, and even installed in-ground.

Made with single, or up to quadruple inlet pipes, ranging in size from 90, 100 or 150mm. These are water diverters not rubbish diverters. The water entering the diverter must be screened upstream by a either a Filter Pit or a rain head.

How does it work?

Simple and effective - requires minimal maintenance. The water enters the diverter via the entry pipe/s. The entry "T" is palced so that the incoming water will fall into the chamber and not bridge the gap and bypass the diverter.

When it begins to rain the initial flow rate is minimal. This initial water, which contains contaminants from the roof and gutter system, enters the diverter chamber via the diverter tube and teh balls float up the tube and seal on the seat. The subsequent flow of cleaner water is then automatically directed to the tank.

How much water to divert?

The volume of water to be diverted will vary depending on every situation. As a guide, for a roof appears to have no pollution, a diversion amount of 0.5 litres per square metre of roof catchment area is recommended, and up to 2 litres per square metre for roofs with a substantial degree of pollution.

The more water diverted, the better the quality of water in the tank

Using the diverted water
Diverted water is not wasted water. The diverted water gravity feeds off from the diverter chamber to the garden via a dripper system.
